Christmas parties
A month from now we’ll be knee-deep in mince pies, wrapping paper and remembering nights of disputable behaviour, but before we get there, we’ll be making sure there are a few parties worth remembering. Lunches and dinners for up to 55, drinks receptions for up to 70.

HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE
SOUTHSIDE EVENTS
When Southwark Playhouse puts on a Christmas show, there’s a distinct lack of mangers, wise men and miracles. Instead, we find an adaptation of Diana Wynne Jones’ classic novel in the vaults beneath London Bridge Station with an original score composed by
Fyfe Dangerfield of the Guillemots and narration from Stephen Fry. 28th Nov to 7 Jan, details here.

late starts on sunday
“It’s not quite breakfast, it’s not quite lunch, but it comes with a slice of cantaloupe at the end. You don’t completely what you would at breakfast, but you get a good meal.”
- as said Jacques to Marge on the subject of brunch, the Simpsons, Season 1.
We make no promises of cantaloupe at the end, but we can assure you of a quick bite over the weekend papers or a lazy afternoon with many a Bloody Mary.

This is Design
SOUTHSIDE EVENTS
After 5 years of meticulous self-examination, the Design Museum delves into its own collection to present a historical reflection on the landscape of British product design. At first, it might seem questionable to describe a traffic light as a turning point in the visual identity of the nation, but once in place alongside iconic motorway signage and phone boxes we being to understand the economic and cultural significance of many items we take for granted.

BLDGSPACE
Reading material
Thankfully they rarely tell you just where these buildings are – the air of unattainability relieves some of the pain from knowing you’ll never get to go anyhow.

A room for London
local architecture
The south shore of the River Thames has a propensity for boats becoming grounded in its banks: the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, the Golden Hinde in Bankside, and soon, atop the Queen Elizabeth Hall. As part of the Olympic festivities, some clever folk have come up with a hotel room overlooking the Thames for one lucky pair to reflect on the essence of London during their stay. First stage is now sold out, but the second lot goes on sale in January. Book here.

Simple things
The Gianelli family has been baking some the finest, authentic Italian sour doughs in Bermondsey for over 40 years – and we’re fortunate to be just across the road.

Shlomo: Mouthtronica
SOUTHSIDE EVENTS
A new generation beat boxing sensation, Shlomo has forsaken his usual extensive set up of numerous guests, turntablism and his Vocal Orchestra for a loosely autobiographical solo show. Mouthtronica has all the genre-hopping vocal shenanigans of his previous exploits with funny storytelling and an exciting narrative to hold it together. Tues 13 to Thurs 15 December at the Southbank Centre.

no room for dessert
Sometimes even the most carefree of us feel pressured to forego dessert. Thankfully, coffee is exempt, as are digestifs, so a cocktail which embodies all these formidable after-dinner indulgences escapes the same fate of restraint dessert so often suffers. It’s definitely not cheating.
Tiramisu
after dinner cocktails
If you don’t want to stick around after dinner, make one of our favourite nightcaps at home.
25ml Patron XO coffee tequila
10ml Baileys
10ml Frangelico
10ml Kahlua
30ml Espresso
5ml Vanilla gomme
Top with double cream
Shake all the ingredients with lots of ice. Strain into a chilled coupette or martini glass. Garnish with chocolate powder and three coffee beans.
